Hearts Alive Village has entered into a contract with Clark County to provide forensics veterinary medicine and care for animals who are suspected victims of abuse and neglect, the first non-profit to do so.

Beginning March 1, 2022, Hearts Alive Village will medically investigate cases brought to them

Ken Sieranski will lead this critical program as the forensics veterinarian. He practiced for over 4 years with Miami Dade County investigating dozens of cases. Making a strong case for animal cruelty requires a perfect investigation. In some cases, Sieranski may testify in court as an expert witness.

Hearts Alive Village responded quickly when the jurisdiction reached.

"We began sourcing the specialized equipment needed, creating a dedicated space in our clinic facility for necropsy procedures," they explained in a press release. "We managed the demolition ourselves, however professional services were needed for important features like installing a solid surface floor and electrical rewiring. Surgical equipment and supplies, door modification and locking cabinetry to store evidence, as well as special refrigeration and a high resolution digital camera are still needed."

Clark County has 10 to 12 animal cruelty cases a month.
