The Peroria Police Department and Coroner’s Office have announced the identify confirmation of remains found last year.

On Aug.  29, 2020, Peoria County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call regarding human bones found along the banks of the Illinois River. An extensive search was conducted in the area and additional bones were recovered, including teeth. The bones were collected by PCSO Crime Scene Deputies for further examination and autopsy by the Peoria County Coroner’s Office.

The remains were then examined by a forensic anthropologist to help determine the identity, interpret trauma and estimate time since death. Deputies transported the teeth to the Illinois State Police Forensic Lab DNA Section for processing.

On April 21, 2021, a positive identification was made on the remains. Based on DNA evidence, the remains belong to that of Jon’Perry L. Hutcherson.

On Dec. 2, 2019, the Peoria Police Department requested help from the public in locating Jon’Perry L. Hutcherson, a missing/endangered 21-year-old male.

Hutcherson, a black male, 5’11” tall, 170 lbs, with brown eyes and black hair, was last seen wearing a black Adidas jacket with a gray hood, gray pants and black Crocs shoes. He was last seen on Nov. 27, 2019 at approximately 5 pm walking out of his apartment.

The current investigation is ongoing. No cause or manner of death has been determined yet.
