Sheriff Tony Spurlock of the Douglas County Sheriffs Office (Colorado) announced the identification of Rebecca "Becky" Ann Redeker born on March 21,1973. A young woman who had spent most of her live in the state of Colorado.
Redeker’s body was found, unidentifiable, in June 1993 near the Rainbow Falls campground in the Pike National Forest in Douglas County Colorado.
Evidence was collected from the crime scene at the time and preserved in hopes that it would assist us in identifying her at some point. In July, we learned that this preserved evidence had done just that. DNA evidence from the crime scene was submitted to United Data Connect, a genetic genealogy analysis company, which ultimately provided us with data that led to her positive identification.
Metro Denver Crime Stoppers has assisted in funding these efforts and yesterday, graciously increased their offered reward to $10,000 for anyone who can provide information that leads us to answers surrounding Becky's death.
At this time, the police are asking that anyone that knew Redeker and might have any information about her around the time of her death please contact Detective O'Harold at 720-474-6298.
