Bode Technology (Bode), a leading provider of forensic DNA services, announces a significant expansion of its forensic genealogy team. Bode’s Forensic Genealogy Service (FGS) continues to deliver investigative leads to law enforcement and attorneys through proven forensic genealogy and DNA analysis methods. The team has added experienced genealogists, each having over a decade of field experience with specific areas of expertise. This expansion is another sign of the repeated impact forensic genealogy is having by enhancing public safety, exonerating the innocent, and bringing justice for victims and their families.

The Bode Genealogy Team members each have unique skill sets which are actively providing fresh investigative leads on challenging cases. The announcement follows recent cases where Bode has provided investigative support, including the arrest of an accused serial rapist (Connecticut), identification of Baby Michael (Cumberland County, NC), and the identification of the suspect in a decades-old cold case homicide (Portland, OR). This is the second recent enhancement to this program, as Bode previously announced a collaboration with LexisNexis Risk Solutions to enhance investigations.

“We are very excited to further expand our forensic genealogy program, as we build a turn-key solution that will lead to more solved cases utilizing leading-edge technology,” said Mike Cariola, President and CEO of Bode Technology. “It is critical to responsibly work these cases as we are seeing more agencies than ever reaching out for our support on cold case homicides, sexual assaults, and unknown remains. Cold cases are complex, and our experts utilize every tool available to provide investigative leads while protecting the integrity of the technology.”

Recently, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) has funded agencies through several grant programs, including the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI), Prosecuting Cold Cases through DNA, and Post-Conviction DNA testing grants. These programs require agencies to follow federal guidelines when using this technology.

“Much of the work we are providing is being driven by these grant programs and our partnerships between crime laboratories, investigators, and attorneys,” said Andrew Singer, VP Operations Sales and Global Marketing. “Bode encourages and supports agencies to seek grant funding, which will enable them to utilize forensic genealogy on their cases.”

For 25 years, Bode has been a leader in forensic DNA analysis. Bode’s highly refined protocols and rigorous quality systems are used every day to identify perpetrators of crimes, identify the missing, and exonerate the innocent. Bode has incorporated the same principles to deliver a quality forensic genealogy solution for our clients.
