ASCLD Recognizes the Top Performing Forensic Labs in the World

The American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD) has announced the recipients of its 2020 Foresight Maximus Award, which recognizes the top performing forensic laboratories in the world.

Started in 2007 by an agreement between the West Virginia University and the National Institute of Justice, Project FORESIGHT is a business-guided self-evaluation of forensic science laboratories. Faculty from the WVU John Chambers College of Business and Economics analyze the data from forensic crime laboratories from around the world to identify trends across laboratories and performance of individual laboratories.

The Foresight Maximus award is presented annually to participant laboratories operating at 90% or better of peak efficiency and productivity.

This year, ASCLD has named 14 labs in the United States as winners of the 2020 Foresight Maximum Award:

  • Acadiana Crime Lab- New Iberia, LA
  • Arkansas State Crime Laboratory- Little Rock, AR
  • Bexar County Criminal Investigation Laboratory- San Antonio, TX
  • Broward County Sheriff's Office- Fort Lauderdale, FL
  • Chandler Police Department Forensic Service Section- Chandler, AZ
  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department- Charlotte, NC
  • City of Tulsa Police Department Forensic Laboratory- Tulsa, OK
  • Denver Police Department Crime Laboratory- Denver, CO
  • Florida Department of Law Enforcement- Tampa, FL
  • Fort Worth Police Crime Laboratory- Forth Worth, TX
  • Fort Worth Police Department- Digital Forensic Lab, Fort Worth, TX
  • Idaho State Police- Meridian, ID
  • Midwest Regional Forensic Laboratory- Andover, MN
  • Utah Department of Public Safety Bureau of Forensic Services- Taylorsville, UT
