Special Victim Unit (SVU) detectives at the Family Justice Center arrested and charged a man with Statutory Rape of a Child last week stemming from a 1999 sexual assault cold case.
After uncovering new information following a review of forensic evidence recently returned from the North Carolina State Lab, SVU detectives were able to charge Darnell Rex Young Jr. of Asheville with Statutory Rape of a Child.
Young was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center under a $100,000 (or $10,000 to a bondsman) secure bond issued by a magistrate.
