10-Year Investigation Leads To Arrest In Mesquite Assault Case

Almost a decade ago on September 2, 2014, Mesquite Police were dispatched to the 3500 block of Moon Drive, after a resident located a female victim lying on the side of their house. The victim had been savagely beaten, leaving her unconscious with severe injuries to her head and face. During the investigation officers learned the victim, prior to the offense, was a disabled individual and was also sexually assaulted during the offense.

A sexual assault kit was completed on the victim and a male profile was subsequently identified and entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) with negative match results.

During the initial investigation Mesquite Police investigators repeatedly canvassed the neighborhood and conducted numerous interviews attempting to identify a suspect or any information to move the investigation forward. These efforts were unfortunately not enough to obtain substantial leads in the case. This case continued to be a priority for investigators and numerous leads were followed in the years following the assault. Due to the unwavering dedication of the Mesquite Police lead investigator and invaluable assistance from the Dallas FBI Field Office a suspect was recently identified through extensive DNA investigative research. As a result, on July 10, 2024, Mesquite Police with assistance from the Dallas FBI Field Office arrested 27-year-old Jorge Post of Dallas, Texas for the offense. Post was 17 years old when he committed the offense.

Post is currently in custody and charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault – Disabled Person, a first-degree felony.

We hope this arrest provides some relief for the victim from the traumatic event she had to endure. The Mesquite Police Department would like to express our gratitude to the Dallas FBI office for their partnership and assisting in seeking justice for the victim.
