Bloodstain Patterns: Area of Origin Analysis Using Laser Scanner Technology
Watch on Demand Bloodstains are one of the most commonly found forms of evidence at crime scenes. Traditional methods of documenting and analyzing bloodstains require a significant amount of time at the scene.  Stringing is by nature, a very tedious process which must be performed on site, while the use of dedicated software programs require the analyst to document each individual stain at the scene.  The use of laser scanning technology with FARO Scene‚Äôs Bloodstain plug-in is a validated and highly efficient method to perform area-of-origin analysis with the benefit of easily incorporating multiple, non-orthogonal surfaces into the results.  Additionally, the analysis can be visualized in context to the overall crime scene, making it easier for a judge and jury to understand.
