A New Kind of Database for National Cold Case Month

September 1, 2024 marked the start of the inaugural National Cold Case Month in the forensic community, with some well-known organizations joining the call to action.

 

In June 1982, the remains of an unidentified individual were discovered in the Snake River near the mouth of the Grand Ronde River in Nez Perce County, Idaho.

Recently published research found that studying the microbes involved in decomposition could predict time elapsed since death in extreme cold conditions with high accuracy.
