A New Kind of Database for National Cold Case MonthSeptember 1, 2024 marked the start of the inaugural National Cold Case Month in the forensic community, with some well-known organizations joining the call to action. In June 1982, the remains of an unidentified individual were discovered in the Snake River near the mouth of the Grand Ronde River in Nez Perce County, Idaho. In the summer of 2023, detectives used various investigative methods and lead information from the genetic genealogy analysis and were able to identify Shepherd as a suspect. The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law has launched the first law school defense clinic in the nation specifically focused on forensic evidence. The Maui Police Department Cold Case Unit requests the public’s assistance in identifying a male who was found deceased in the waters off Kahului Harbor breakwater on Sept. 25, 1996. |
