Jiu Jitsu Club Helps Advance Fiber Evidence Research

Members of a university’s jiu jitsu club recently teamed with forensic scientists to stimulate real-world assaults and fill a large knowledge gap in trace evidence.

 

On Nov. 3, 1998, Wayne Adam Ford arrived at the Main Station in possession of a female body part. He subsequently admitted to murdering several women, including the unidentified female.

 

This work has conclusively linked both homicides to the same offender.

 

A man whose skeletal remains were found in 1986 has been identified, and special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are asking for the public’s help to determine who killed him.

 

The AFP has revealed some of the state-of-the-art technology used to locate the illicit treasure troves of criminals across Australia.

 

The demanding and often distressing nature of work for forensic scientists takes a significant toll on their mental health, a trend that is often underrecognized by the organizations that employ them.
