Historic Black Cemetery Wiped Out by Microsoft Data Center

The cemetery’s disappearance cleared the way for the expansion of a Microsoft data center, despite layers of federal and state regulations nominally intended to protect culturally significant sites.

 

On March 13, 1981, a highway worker found skeletal remains of a man near a culvert along Minnesota Interstate 90 near County Highway 23.

 

Though the woman had been deceased for a few days and likely exposed to the elements, investigators were able to determine that the death was a homicide and that the cause of death as strangulation.

 

Due to some similarities between the Jane Doe and Floyd, a close family member of Floyd provided a DNA sample.

AFP forensic experts are releasing details of a previously classified investigation into the mystery of the night before Christmas.
