Cadaver Dog Searches on USMC Cemetery in Tarawa

Wed, 06/01/2011 - 2:20am
This clip shows History Flight's clandestine grave detection team running Buster, the world's most scientifically tested cadaver dog, on a lost US Marine cemetery #27 that they found with ground penetrating radar in 2008 and reprofiled with magnetometry and a EM 38 and soil analysis tests for human decompositional products from the Oak Ridge National Lab. Here the dog alerts on the exact spot the subsurface imagery says the graves are and in the exact spot the historical records say they are. Local construction workers showed us that in 2002 while digging a water cistern they dug up a large WWII grave here and dumped the remains in the fill of the pier extension. In this clip the dog verifies their statement and alerts on the grave site and the site where they dug up the section of the grave and where they dumped the remains. This 40 person grave is said to be the final resting place of CMH Awardee Lt Alexander Bonneyman.
