RJ Lee Group's Criminal Forensics Earns Accreditations in Gunshot Residue and Distance Determination

RJ Lee Group, Inc. has announced that its Criminal Forensics department has received accreditation from the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB) — International Program in the trace evidence sub-disciplines of gunshot residue (GSR) and gunshot distance determination. RJ Lee Group is one of two private laboratories in the world to offer ASCLD/LAB accredited GSR analysis services and the first and only private laboratory to offer ASCLD/LAB accredited distance determination services.

“We are excited to be one of the only private laboratories to offer ASCLD/LAB accredited services in gunshot residue and distance determination both nationally and internationally,” said Allison Murtha, Manger of the Criminal Forensics department. “For over 20 years, we have offered support to crime laboratories needing to outsource gunshot residue and distance determination analytical work. Now, our customers’ confidence in our work has been reinforced by our being accredited by one of the leading accrediting bodies in the forensic science industry. In addition, we are eager to have the opportunity to begin fostering relationships with new clients around the globe who may not be able to analyze GSR, perform distance determination, or those who need help clearing their backlogs.”

ASCLD/LAB is the oldest and most established accrediting body in the field of forensic science. In order to receive accreditation from ASCLD/LAB, a laboratory must demonstrate that it fully meets both the comprehensive standards outlined in ISO/IEC 17025:2005 as well as the additional requirements of ASCLD/LAB-International.
