Renowned Forensic Scientist Tells His Tales

Of USA Today’s 2007 list of the top 25 stories that shaped the history of the preceding quarter century, renowned forensic scientist Dr. Henry Lee was involved — either directly or indirectly — in investigating the criminal aspects of 14 of them. That single note speaks volumes about Lee’s professional reputation worldwide.

Lee is a forensic scientist who worked on the OJ Simpson case, one of many examinations of the John F. Kennedy assassination, the suicide of Vince Foster, the JonBenet Ramsey disappearance, and war crimes in Bosnia and Croatia. Lee was the keynote speaker at the first Candid Conversations series, a new speaker series created by Northwest Connecticut’s Chamber of Commerce aimed at helping people learn about fields outside their own.

“This is the man who single-handedly changed the criminal justice system from relying on questioning people to the certainty of science,” said Judge Charles Gill, the moderator of the discussion and longtime friend of Lee.

Although Lee deals with morbid topics, his presentation was lively and punctuated with jokes that had the crowd of nearly 100 tittering in their seats.
