Non-DNA Human Identification Test Announced

Global Forensics Ltd, a UK-based International Forensic and Distribution Company, and Identity Sciences LLC, a high-tech forensic U.S. company, announce their new partnership to launch and market a new forensic human identification test, AbP ID™.

AbP ID, a screening tool for DNA, delivers accurate, reliable results in less than two hours. Instead of using DNA, AbP ID reads special autoantibodies, Individual Specific Autoantibodies (ISA’s), found in all human body tissues and fluids. Each individual, including identical twins, has a unique antibody profile.

The AbP ID test uses blood serum and dried blood and can determine whether the antibody profile of the evidence found at a crime scene matches the profile of a suspect. Because accurate results are completed in less than two hours, AbP ID is an effective tool to determine which evidence should be DNA tested, saving invaluable investigative time and costs.

AbP ID does not require expensive equipment or highly skilled technicians. AbP ID tests can be conducted in any crime lab. They do not require large evidence samples; about 1/20 of a drop is sufficient. A software program, AbP IMAGE, works hand-in-hand to read the results and accurately compares AbP ID results. It can also compare test results to others in a crime lab’s own database.

Mike Holden, Chairman of Global Forensics says, “This human identification system is the next generation of forensic tools to be invented since fingerprinting in 1901 and Forensic DNA introduced in 1994. Our system can differentiate between identical twins and multiple births from the age of two. We expect AbP ID will greatly impact forensic science worldwide and we’re proud to be part of it.”

AbP ID and AbP IMAGE were developed by Identity Sciences LLC (IDS) with the Idaho National Laboratory. Global Forensics has partnered with IDS to distribute AbP ID and AbP IMAGE in Europe and other countries.
