No Lab Results Yet in Severed Legs CaseJul 17, 2012
By John Grant Emeigh
The Montana Crime Lab in Missoula is examining a pair of severed legs found near Butte, but results from that analysis may take several weeks.
Sheriff John Walsh said that his detectives have been in contact with the lab. He said it may not be until August, or even September, before results from the exam will be ready.
Two hikers found a bag with a pair of human legs in it just off on Moulton Reservoir Road north of Butte on the afternoon of June 26. Police have no suspects.
Investigators are hoping the lab may be able to get DNA from the legs and match it to someone. Until then, the bizarre case remains at a standstill.
