MTSU Gives Teens Insight into Forensics
Jun 24, 2012by Mealand Ragland-Hudgins
Television crime shows with a heavy emphasis on forensic science have made Middle Tennessee State Univ. a destination for high school students from across the country.
The university’s Forensic Institute for Research and Education was established in the summer of 2006 under the direction of nationally-known anthropologist Hugh Berryman. FIRE students and faculty work with law enforcement, coroners, attorneys and others in order to provide training and research opportunities.
Mitzi Dunkley, Berryman’s executive aide, said Berryman would often be asked to visit schools across the state to talk with students interested in going into forensic science.
