Michigan Retains U.P. Crime Lab

A $2.5 million appropriation bill passed by the House and Senate and signed by Michigan Governor, Jennifer Granholm, will allow the Michigan State Police Crime Lab in Marquette to remain open.

One million dollars was used toward the purchase of the current building, and the rest will be used for renovations.

The lab is one of only seven in the state and the only one on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
