Boston Transit Police Testing Spitter DNAIn an effort to crack down on riders who spit on Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority bus and subway drivers, the T says it's going to start collecting DNA evidence—the spit—in order to prosecute the offenders.

In 2011, there were 82 assaults on MBTA employees. In 21 of these cases, the employee was spat upon, the T said, and 41 of the victims were bus operators.
